Long before Cricket became codified, Jam Sahib used to play.

Those days Queen of England was (mis)ruling India.

It is said that people in England used to believe that the reason Jam Sahib was able to play so well was because of British Raj.

The line of argument went this way:

Because of Raj, State of Nawanagar did not have to worry about wars with its arch-rival, State of Junagadh.

This spared a lot of cannons.

Jam Sahib was believed to practice his wonderful batting against those cannons blowing fast balls!
