Rahul Gandhi’s 99 paisa

Filed under: Indian politics and economy — pramath @ 8:33 AM

Late Rajeev Gandhi had observed that out of a rupee allocated for the common man, whom the son-in-law-of-the-nation so fondly calls a mango man, only 15 paisa used to reach.

Rahul Gandhi has picked up from where Rajeev Gandhi stopped. Recently he promised that instead of those 15 paisa, 99 paisa will reach the mango man.

One thing for sure, Rahul Gandhi knows that after that statement of Rajeev Gandhi, 20 years have passed and the ratio is unchanged.

I am really tempted to ask

  1. How he got the accurate number?
  2. In ~16 years of rule of Congress after that historic statement of his father, why has not the number increased to say 16 paisa?
  3. What are his thoughts and plans for that 1 paisa? 😉
